The Swiss Government hasn’t got this. As our planet’s climate spirals out of control, our leaders are still pretending that everything will be alright. Unless we stop emissions now, it most certainly won’t. Our lives depend on this truth to be told, on immediate action to be taken, and on getting a democracy capable of getting us out of this planetary emergency.
After decades of failure by traditional campaigning, it seems the only way left to get real change is through mass civil disobedience. Nobody’s coming to save us. So if not you, who - and if not now, when?
Starting on Monday October 4th, the rebellion will peacefully shut down some major intersections in central Zurich. Exact locations and the meeting times will be communicated publicly soon.
The plan is as simple as our situation is dire: each day, hundreds of people young and old will choose to sit in the streets - overnight if necessary, ready to be arrested if necessary, until their demands are heard.
Since this might take a while, we encourage you to bring your chair or something comfy to sit on.
So leave your desk. Invite your boss. Walk out of school. Switch off the TV. Put down your phone. Get on the streets. Grab a chair. And bring everybody. If you do one thing with your life, do this. Not later, now.
Together we are powerful. Crisis does not have to mean collapse.
